White Paper And A Pencil

First day of clinical training and I thought I may have managed a lawsuit. I do not even have malpractice insurance yet!

Aside from the cold wind biting at my face early morning, the staff members at a chaotic hospital paining my other end was a crisp reminder that vacation is over. I have returned to the diseased and the disgruntled, and the patients are the least of my concern. I called in a morbidly obese sick guy who was having trouble talking after having a stroke some years ago. I saw that he is not dying, ordered an ECG for his occasional left sided chest pain, ordered some blood-work, and told him to return in a month to see me with the results or earlier if needed.

But I needed a pen. A pen to write that he has been having the unaddressed chest pain for the past few…

Training Day

I will be embarking a new category in the following days, weeks, months, to come.

My progress toward a successful completion of the Infinity Tour depends upon my ability to prepare for all that such an endeavor will require of me. I intend to document through blog, vlog, and graphic, my training regiment and techniques.

In addition to this I will keep you updated on a number of milestones for my endurance voyage. Throughout the Midwest, the Triathlon season is coming into full swing, and what better way of preparing for and endurance sail than to train for one of the most grueling and demanding endurance sports. I am currently cycling over 100 miles a week and expect that to double before the end of May. I welcome your input, your critique, and your encouragement. I am infancy new to the Triathlon  sport, so any and all comments are truly appreciated!

Character or Performance?

Being from Detroit and a devote Tigers fan I both applaud your post and caution you in your appraisal of the situation. The fans have always been loyal to Brandon in the most intimate of ways, and are to this day. However, over the past couple of seasons he has been forced into roles which threaten the game in a way that implored his inevitable demise. The boos that could be heard at nearly every at bat, were more for the management than for Brandon. Instead of allowing him the dignity and respect that he has earned over his entire career with Detroit, he was thrown to the publicity dogs in a calculated move to sway public opinion in the Tiger’s “need” for such a player.Detroit needs a team of Brandon Inges. Brandon is a true son of Detroit, and that will forever be his legacy.

The art of the overnight backpacking trip

The art of the overnight backpacking trip.

Definitely on my short list of stops along the way. Haiku will be docked in New Zealand to experience as much as she can offer in the limited time I will have. I welcome any and all advise on “can’t miss” locations.

Saturday morning

I was up late last night organizing my backpack. Needless to say, Saturday morning was not something I looked forward to on Friday nights. Saturday afternoons, or at the very least Saturday noons are much better. But like with all things, coffee makes it better.

As promised I have added the first of several recipes and directions to flavor your life with nothing more than a coffee maker.

Video blogs and captivating voice-overs will be soon to follow.

– Prep time is approximately 2 minutes, depending on how hung-over you are from the night before.

– Total cooking time is approximately 15 minutes

– You will need 1 serving bowl, 1 cup of water, 6-8 tblsp of oatmeal, 1 egg, butter, salt, pepper, and a 4×4 piece of aluminum foil

– Place the serving bowl directly on the heating pad

– Add the water to the coffee maker after you have removed the strainer and turn the maker on

– Scoop the oatmeal into the bowl while the water percolates through the maker

– Stir slowly and add brown sugar to taste

– Place the foil on the heating pad and shape slightly (be careful since the element is already hot)

– Crack 1 egg directly onto the foil and season with salt and pepper

– Serve over easy with a pinch of parsley

Watch for my list of egg recipes…poached, boiled, fried, and deviled!

ArtPrize lookout, here we come!

International Art Competition:

In 2011 artists from 39 countries participated in ArtPrize. In addition to artists, curators, jurors, speakers, educators, press, critics and visitors from all over the world flood Grand Rapids, Mi to participate in awarding the worlds largest prize for art.

For 2012

  • Venues Register from March 12 to April 12
  • Artists Register April 23 – May 24
  • Artists and Venues connect: April 23 – June 14

The event itself lasts 19 Days.

Social Experiment:

While the ArtPrize event turns four this year, it is and always will be an experiment. With few rules, ArtPrize generates wild and unpredictable results.

The platform accelerates the creative exchange of ideas by providing a simple framework for action. If an artist has an idea and a venue can put it on display, action happens. They decide. As the entries are judged both by public vote and an internationally regarded group of arts professionals, a massive conversation erupts.
